SQZ for Windows - right-click menu
==================================

Install
  1. Unzip this folder anywhere.
  2. Double-click install.cmd. It copies sqz to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\SQZ
and adds an "SQZ" submenu to Explorer for the current user only
(registry under HKCU, no admin rights needed).

On Windows 11 the submenu is under "Show more options" (or Shift+F10).

Use
  Right-click a file or folder > SQZ:
Compress: Smart the default: picks the best method for each part
of the data; about as small as Balanced, usually
faster (shown when this sqz supports it)
Compress: Fast quickest; the archive stays fairly large
Compress: Balanced usually far smaller than Fast, takes longer
Compress: Maximum a little smaller than Balanced, several times
slower to create and to extract

Example, a 158 MB software build: Fast 88 MB in 0.4 s, Smart 35.6 MB
    in 17 s, Balanced 35.1 MB in 19 s, Maximum 31 MB in 57 s.

Compress with options... pick the archive name and mode; choosing an
existing .sqz adds a new snapshot to it

The archive is written next to the item (report.docx -> report.sqz,
"report (2).sqz" if that name is taken). Selecting several items makes
  one archive per item.

  Right-click a .sqz file > SQZ:
Extract to folder into a new folder named after the archive
Extract here into the folder holding the archive
                             (sqz never overwrites existing files)
Export to ZIP write the latest snapshot as a standard .zip next
to the archive, for people without SQZ; every
entry is read back and checked before the ZIP is
                             kept
Test archive verify every file without writing anything

A small window shows progress (file N of M, archive size so far, time)
and the result. Cancel stops sqz and removes its unfinished output file.

Command line
sqz.exe is a normal command-line program; run it from the install folder
(or add that folder to PATH). "sqz.exe" with no arguments prints help.

Standalone extractor
sqz-extract.exe opens .sqz archives without installing anything: send it
along with an archive, and the recipient drops the archive onto it (or
runs "sqz-extract.exe archive.sqz"). It extracts into a new folder next
to the archive, checks every file, and never overwrites anything. It
cannot create archives. If an archive was made by a newer SQZ, it says
so and exits with status 3.

Uninstall
Settings > Apps > SQZ archiver > Uninstall, or run uninstall.cmd from
  this folder.
